Sierra
It is now four months since we have picked up our Alaskan
Malamute from Michelle and Dave at Shelaskan. This is the third Malamute that we have owned over the last twenty years. Sierra is however, the first female we have ever owned. We can honestly say that dealing with Michelle has been by far the most positive experience. Right from the moment we met we felt at ease with Michelle and we knew that she would help us make the right decision in choosing our next family pet. Michelle was very attentive to our specific needs especially where our ten-year-old son was concerned. She hand picked Sierra for us based on her temperament and as a result she has fit into our family like the final piece of a puzzle to make it complete. Michelle genuinely cares for the dogs she breeds and takes pride in what she does. This clearly became evident right from our initial conversations regarding the possibility of obtaining a pup to the day we picked up Sierra to bring her home. Even after we brought Sierra home, Michelle has continued to keep in touch with us about her progress and has always returned any of our phone calls or e-mails promptly. We could not be happier with our Malamute. She is a beautiful, intelligent dog that loves people and especially children. We would highly recommend Shelaskan to
anyone considering an Alaskan Malamute. Having dealt with other breeders of Alaskan Malamutes we can honestly say
that Michelle and Dave have been a pleasure to deal with. They truly love their dogs and are highly knowledgeable about this breed of dog. The quality of their Alaskan Malamutes is a true testament of their dedication and high standards as
breeders.

Ices
I highly recommend Michelle Lavigne as a breeder of Malamutes. If you are interested in Alaskan Malamutes, she is definately the right person to talk to. She is very helpful and knowledgeable, which made me decide to purchase a puppy from her. She's a breeder because she loves Malamutes so much and it definately shows. She took the time to answer all my questions and has no problems giving helpful tips and advice. Now, I could not be happier with my new best friend and It's one of the best decisions that I ever made.

Mya
Mya is the perfect addition to our home. She LOVES everyone! She gets along well with children and most animals. If we have any questions, Michelle promptly replies with an answer. She is a breeder you can count on if you have any questions or concerns. We are living in Labrador and we were not able to meet Mya before we got her. Michelle took excellent care of her. Mya came to us as a happy puppy in good health and with a great temperament. We could not have chosen a better breeder. If we were to get another Malamute, we would definitely get another from Michelle.

Kodi
My wife and I spent almost two years researching breeds and various breeders in hopes of bringing the perfect pet into our family. This was especially important in light of the fact that we have 2 young daughters. Once we settled on a malamute we were refered to Michelle at Shelaskan by a local malamute breeder here in Newfoundland. It was one of the best decisions we could have made. Michelle was very forth coming with information during our initial conversations and provided us with pictures of her kennel and references from previous adoptive familes. This alleviated a lot of concerns and reservations we had in light of the fact that we reside in Newfoundland and were unable to vist her and David.
We left the decision of which puppy we would receive up to Michelle and her experience. She did a wonderful job of selecting a puppy that loves to play but is not too bold which is a wonderful asset with our 2 daughters. Kodi came to us very well socialized, in great health and with a wonderful temperment just as promised. This in itself shows the time and dedication spent by Michelle and David. Kodi adjusted very well to his new family and is growing fast. He loves everyone he meets and also enjoys quiet time on the couch having a snuggle with his new family.
A huge thank you from the Trask family and a big woo from Kodi...

Dakota and his Daughter Nia
Michelle and I are long time friends, in fact the first time I met her, Michelle approached me at a dog show in 1994 when I was showing my very first Malamute. Of course I had no idea how to groom or show, but Michelle was more than willing to help out, and I was showing her competition! We have since developed a great friendship, and recently, I have gotten two absolutely beautiful malamutes puppies from Michelle, one of which, CH Shelaskans Usurper of Frostbyte, “TEDI”. He was a multiple Best of Breed and Group placer, finishing his championship by 18 months. The other, Shelaskans Niata 4 Frostbyte, “NIA”, is the world sweetest tempered little girl. Michelle made sure the pair was a perfect match with respect to all aspects including temperament and type. Michelle will always tell you the truth, that’s the best part about her, she always tells you like it is, not what she thinks you want to hear. Michelle has entrusted us with one of her older boys when he retired from her breeding program, Am/CAN CH Shelaskans Gangway I’m a Gomin, “Dakota”. After all these years Michelle is not a large kennel with multiple dogs, so during the summer that Tedi was a puppy ready to make his debut into the confirmation ring, Michelle offered to help show him & my daughter Jessica the show ropes. And because of her small kennel and limited space we had an opportunity to dog sit Dakota and we fell in love with him. So of course we jumped at the opportunity to have him come live out the rest of his life here on our 135 acre farm. Dakota is now 14 years old and despite the failing eye sight and hearing he always has a woo woo when we get home from work and it’s time for dinner. I am proud to call Michelle a friend and able to continue to draw from her experiences, even after almost 18 years I’m still learning from her and she’s still just as willing to help.
Thanks Michelle from all of us here at Frostbyte kennel.

Moxie
We were a bit apprehensive about spending as much as we did to purchase a puppy we hadn't seen from a lady we hadn't even met. But, in the end, it has been truly amazing how Michelle was able to pick one puppy from a litter of six that fit into our family so perfectly. Early in the adoption process, we looked at pictures and were a bit frustrated that Michelle couldn't tell us which little girl was ours, and it was litterally "last minute" when we did find out, but we now realize, she was taking the time to be absolutely sure she was getting it right, and we really appreciate that.
Ours was no easy fit, given three children, ages 8 to 13, a ferret, and an older husky with a bit of an attitude. But somehow, she seems to have pulled it off perfectly. Our Moxie is a Teddy Bear, often not realizing that she is now 75 lbs when she climbs up in our lap, or insists on lying in the middle as she climbs into bed to wake us up.
Honestly, the only difficulty we encountered in the entire process was getting our puppy delivered to such a remote location as ours. Moxie is owned and loved by the Dyson Family in Newfoundland
